Olive Tree People vs. Oliveda: What’s the Difference?

If you’ve been searching Olive Tree People vs Oliveda trying to figure out whether these are two names for the same brand…here’s the answer, and it is actually more interesting than a simple yes or no.

Olive Tree People is the parent brand. It’s the company, the platform, and the umbrella under which multiple product lines live. Oliveda is one of those product lines…specifically the waterless skincare collection that the brand has become best known for. But Oliveda is not the whole picture. Under the Olive Tree People umbrella you’ll also find Olive Rose, which is the makeup line I use and recommend for women over 40, along with other product lines including LA Dope, Olive Mush, and Is That Matty? Each line has its own identity, its own focus, and its own product range…but they all share the same parent company and the same founding philosophy of clean, effective formulations built around the amazing properties of the olive tree.

So when you see the name Oliveda online, you’re looking at the skincare arm of a larger brand family. And when you see Olive Tree People, you’re looking at the whole house that Oliveda lives in…along with several other lines you may not have discovered yet.

I’ve been using Oliveda skincare and Olive Rose makeup as core parts of my daily routine for years….and as a licensed esthetician and certified makeup artist, I recommend both to the women I work with consistently. In this post I’m breaking down exactly how the brand family is structured, what makes each line different, and how to know where to start if you’re new to any of it. I’ve linked my full Oliveda honest review below for the complete deep-dive on the skincare specifically.

How Olive Tree People Is Structured…The Brand Family Explained

The easiest way to think about Olive Tree People is like a house with several rooms. The house is Olive Tree People…the parent company, the platform, the direct sales structure through which all the products are sold. Each room in that house is a different product line with its own focus, its own aesthetic, and its own customer.

  • Oliveda is the skincare room and it’s the one that has attracted the most attention online because waterless skincare is a genuinely differentiated approach in a crowded beauty market. Built around hydroxytyrosol, one of the most potent antioxidants known to science, Oliveda products contain no water as a filler. Every ingredient in every formula is active, intentional, and working. For women over 40 whose skin needs concentrated, barrier-supportive care rather than water-heavy products that evaporate and dehydrate, Oliveda is the line that consistently delivers the most visible results. Check out my top 5 Oliveda products I can’t live without!
  • Olive Rose is the makeup room…and it is one I am personally very invested in as a certified makeup artist. Olive Rose makeup is formulated with the same clean, skin-first philosophy as Oliveda skincare. The cream formulas are buildable, blendable, and designed specifically to work beautifully on mature skin without settling into fine lines or sitting heavily on the surface. I use Olive Rose products in my daily routine and feature them regularly in my tutorials.
  • LA Dope is another skincare line that has the same power of hydroxtyrosol as the base but with added hemp seed extract to help soothe the skin. You pronounce it L A (for Los Angeles) Dope. This line was founded by OTP founder, Thomas Lommel’s, son. He founded it in Los Angeles and took the popular waterless Oliveda products and added hemp extract as an ingredient. This line is especially great for sensitive skin. Learn more about the LA Dope line.
  • Olive Mush is a coffee alternative. It contains 100% olive leaf/hydroxytyrosol, organic cacao, mediterranean herbs and functional mushrooms.
  • Is That Matty? is a pet care line that offers the same hydroxytyrosol base to provide pets with nourishing and healing ingredients in their shampoo, paw balm, grooming rinse, and rescue gel.

What all of these lines share is the same founding commitment…to clean, effective, beautifully formulated products that respect both the skin and the person using them. Whether you’re comparing Olive Tree People vs Oliveda, starting with Oliveda skincare, exploring Olive Rose makeup, you’re working with a brand that takes ingredients seriously.

Olive Tree People vs Oliveda

What is Oliveda Known For?

Oliveda is best known for pioneering waterless skincare…a unique approach that replaces much of the water commonly found in traditional skincare products with nutrient-rich olive tree extracts. While many conventional skincare products list water as their first ingredient, Oliveda uses olive leaf cell elixir and hydroxytyrosol, a naturally occurring antioxidant found in olive trees, as the foundation of many of its formulations.

The brand was founded by German olive tree farmer and researcher Thomas Lommel after years of studying the remarkable resilience and longevity of ancient mountain olive trees. His research led to the discovery of the powerful benefits of hydroxytyrosol, which has become the signature ingredient throughout the Oliveda product line.

Today, Oliveda is recognized for several key things:

  • Waterless formulations that replace much of the water used in traditional skincare with bioactive olive tree extracts.
  • Hydroxytyrosol, one of the brand’s signature ingredients, prized for its antioxidant properties and ability to help protect the skin from environmental stressors.
  • Clean, plant-based ingredients that focus on nourishing the skin with botanical extracts and oils rather than relying on water as the primary base.
  • Skincare-first beauty products, including the Olive Rose makeup line, which combines makeup with skincare ingredients to help hydrate and support the skin while providing lightweight coverage.
  • A sustainability-focused philosophy, with an emphasis on conserving water through waterless formulations and supporting clean water initiatives. The brand builds water wells in Africa for the money saved by not using water in their ingredients.

Whether you’re drawn to the brand because of its innovative waterless approach, its olive tree-based ingredients, or its focus on clean beauty, Oliveda has built its reputation around creating products that nourish the skin while challenging the traditional way skincare is made.

What is Waterless Beauty?

Waterless beauty is skincare and makeup products that do not contain added water. Instead of water being their main ingredient, these products are made from oils, waxes, and butters. This allows the skincare products to be more potent and effective.

Most skincare products contain 70%-90% water. Just take a look at the ingredients on any of your skincare and makeup products in your bathroom. Water or aqua will be the first ingredient. This means a few things:

  • You’re paying a lot for water!
  • Your skincare products are literally watered down so they aren’t as effective and you aren’t seeing the results you want.
  • In order for the products to be shelf stable, there are a lot of added preservatives and fillers.

Olive Tree People products are waterless beauty products that contain nourishing and bioactive ingredients.

My Honest Oliveda Review

As a licensed esthetician, I’ve always taken great care of my skin. I haven’t skipped a night of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing my face before bed in over 20 years. I exfoliated regularly. I wore sunscreen. But as I was nearing 40, I noticed that the products I was using on my skin just weren’t working well anymore. Even though I was going through the motions and doing the things, my skin looked dull and those fine lines and wrinkles were looking worse.

Now, I’m not trying to look 20. I just want to age gracefully. I want to look healthy and radiant as I age. So I started looking into other skincare products that could help me achieve that. I tried TONS of eye products. Nothing really worked. It was all just glorified face cream. I tried lots of different cleansers and toners. It was all just ok. But I wanted more than ok!

Then, I came across this skincare brand that claimed to be waterless. It used olive cell extract as the base to help nourish the skin. I was intrigued! And when I saw the before and after pictures…I was sold! With their 365 day return policy, I figured I had nothing to lose! So I gave it a go. I bought an entire skincare routine. I did my research and knew the products were more potent and powerful so I eased my way into using them to allow my skin to adjust. And wow. After just a few weeks and then a month and then another month, I could see my skin transform!

My skin went from dull and sad to radiant and glowy again! I got my spark back. Now…as with most things in life…you have to be patient. You have to trust the process. It takes several months to truly see good results when you start a new skincare line. And after several months, I couldn’t believe the difference. 2 and a half years later, I’m still going strong! I use Oliveda and LA Dope products morning and night. My skin is happy. It’s healthy. It’s glowy! That’s exactly what I was looking for as I aged.

Olive Tree People vs Oliveda: FAQs

  • Is Olive Tree People the same as Oliveda? No…Olive Tree People and Oliveda are not exactly the same thing, though the confusion is completely understandable. Olive Tree People is the parent brand and direct sales platform. Oliveda is one of the product lines that lives under the Olive Tree People umbrella…specifically the waterless skincare collection the brand is best known for. Other product lines under Olive Tree People include Olive Rose makeup, LA Dope, Olive Mush, and Is That Matty? So when you’re shopping Oliveda, you’re shopping through Olive Tree People…but Olive Tree People is bigger than Oliveda alone. Think of it like the difference between a company and one of its brands.
  • Is Oliveda legit? Yes…Oliveda is a legitimate skincare line with real science behind its formulations. The brand first originated in Europe over 20 years ago and entered the US market in 2023. The brand is built around hydroxytyrosol, a polyphenol derived from olive tree elixir that’s been studied for its exceptional antioxidant and skin-repairing properties. Oliveda products are waterless…meaning they contain no added water…which makes them more concentrated than most conventional skincare. As a licensed esthetician who has used Oliveda as my primary skincare line for years and recommended it to thousands of women over 40, I can say the results are genuine. You can read my full honest review linked below for a complete, unfiltered look at the products, the pricing, and what to realistically expect.
  • Is Oliveda good for mature skin? Oliveda is exceptionally well suited to mature skin and is the skincare line I recommend most consistently as a licensed esthetician specializing in women over 40. The waterless formulation philosophy is the key reason…after 40, the skin barrier thins and loses its ability to hold onto moisture. Oliveda’s concentrated, lipid-rich formulas work with the mature skin barrier rather than bypassing it…delivering active ingredients that repair, hydrate, and protect at the level mature skin actually needs. The visible results for women over 40…improved firmness, softened fine lines, and consistent glow…are among the most reliable I’ve seen. Learn more about why waterless skincare works so well for mature skin.
