There are lots of different kinds of makeup on the market: powder, liquid, mineral, cream. So many options that you get decision fatigue trying to decide what will be best for you and your skin! I’ve personally tried them all. They all have their pros and cons but I like cream makeup the best! It’s the easiest to apply, most naturally looking on the skin, and most flattering. Yes please! But what if you have oily skin…can cream makeup work for you? Here are some tips to get cream makeup for normal skin to work and last all day!

The Benefit of Cream Makeup

Why is cream makeup the best? Cream makeup doesn’t sit on your face as a thick layer but rather melts into your face creating a second skin appearance. Most women want to look beautiful without looking too fake. And cream makeup gives you that coverage that you want without making it look like you have a ton of makeup caked onto your face! We want to enhance our beauty, not completely cover it up!

Cream makeup is wonderful on all ages! From teens to twenties, thirties to forties, fifties to sixties, and beyond! It can be worn as light coverage, medium coverage, or full coverage. It is extra beautiful on mature skin because it moves with the fine lines and wrinkles instead of sitting heavily on the surface accentuating the aging.

Cream makeup is so easy to use and very forgiving! It can blend like a dream and wipe away easily. With the right tools, you can beautify your face in a matter of minutes! You can apply the cream makeup with your fingers and blend with a brush or you can use brushes to apply and blend. There are so many options and you can make whatever works best for you!

Normal Skin Makeup Tips

If you have normal skin, then cream makeup will be a dream for you! Depending on if you want a matte or dewey finish, any of these tips will help you achieve the look you want:

Sunscreen- This sunscreen HERE is a great sunscreen to apply before you put your makeup on. It gives your face a matte feel and keeps oil at bay all day!
Moisturize- If you want to moisturize your face before applying your makeup, it’s key to let your moisturizer sit for a few minutes to absorb into your skin. If you fail to do so, your cream makeup will slide off your face and won’t stick well.
Primer- If you want to use primer, make sure that your primer is water based so your makeup doesn’t end up slipping off.
Setting Spray- Spray your face with setting before and/or after you apply your makeup. Setting spray is like hairspray formulated for your face. It will help your makeup last all day. HERE is a great option.
Powder- Apply your makeup and set your makeup with powder. You can do a light dusting or you can try the “baking method.” This is when you really cake on the powder after your makeup application. Let it sit and absorb the excess oils for 5-10 minutes. Then take a powder brush and lightly brush away the excess powder. Your makeup will be nice and set for the day! Cleanse, tone, and moisturize daily! No questions about it. It must be done. Commit now to not going to bed ever again with your makeup on! Wash off the dust, grime, dirt, sweat, oil, and makeup from the day so your skin can renew itself while you sleep! My favorite skincare is HERE.
Exfoliate! Depending on your skin’s sensitivity, you should exfoliate at least once a week. Exfoliating will slough off dead skin cells, circulate blood flow, and get your skin feeling nice and smooth! My all-time favorite exfoliator is this salt scrub found HERE.
Mask- Give your skin some TLC by doing a mask once a week. It will help heal and nourish your skin. My favorite enzyme mask is HERE and my favorite clay mask is HERE.
Drink water- Keeping your body hydrated will do wonders for your skin! A good rule of thumb is to shoot for drinking half your body weight in ounces each day.
Change your pillowcase often- You should be changing your pillowcase at least once a week to ensure a clean surface for your skin to rest on at night.

A lot of women want to be able to look beautiful, gorgeous, put together, but they think that they have to have all the experience and expertise to achieve that look! Wrong! When you have the right products and use simple techniques, you can look just as gorgeous as those models and makeup artists! Yes, you! Here’s the most simple makeup routine for the everyday woman so you can look & feel your best!

What You Need

Just like an artist needs his tools to create a masterpiece, you need the right products and tools to look gorgeous! For a super simple makeup look, all you need are 4+ custom colors: highlight, contour, blush, and illuminator. If you need color correcting, then throw concealer in the mix. Along with the right colors that work just for you, you’ll need a brush to blend. And that’s it! Less is more!

The Simple Technique

Can you finger paint? Then you can achieve this look so easily! It’s like a paint-by-numbers technique where you just put certain colors on certain parts of your face and then you blend! You can literally achieve a pretty look in minutes!

Look at the image below to see where to place which color. You apply your highlight (foundation) on your chin, under your eyes, forehead, and nose. You apply contour along your cheekbone. You apply blush on the apples of your cheeks. You apply Illuminator on top of your cheekbone. Just slop it on. There’s no need to be dainty and precise. Then, you take your magical brush and blend baby blend! And soon you will have a beautiful face ready for the day!

If you have combination skin (meaning a combo of oily skin, normal, and dry) and want to make cream makeup work for you, you totally can! I have extremely oily skin in my t-zone and drier skin on my jawline and have been wearing cream makeup for 5 years. I’ve learned a few tips and tricks here and there and these are some things you can incorporate into your beauty routine to get cream makeup to apply well, last all day, and avoid that crazy shine!

Primer- You would think that primer would be a good idea for oily skin, but you want to make sure that your primer is water based so your makeup doesn’t end up slipping off.

3D foundation. You may have heard this makeup term floating around and wondered what in the world it is! What is 3D foundation? You’ve come to the right place because here are your questions answered!

What is 3D Foundation?

Before I explain what 3D foundation is, I need to first tell you what it isn’t. It’s not a liquid or powder foundation that you plop on your entire face to get a flat lifeless finish. What it is, is a cream foundation that gives life, shape, and movement to your face! 3D foundation is meant to give you a 3D look! When you use one foundation color it flattens your face out. It takes away the natural shadows and curves and colors of your face. 3D foundation brings back that beauty!

3D foundation consists of 4 products: highlight (foundation), contour, blush, and illuminator. Each individual product is a foundation. Each provides coverage. But instead of putting 4 layers of makeup on your face to get a crazy caked look, you only apply each color where you need it. This gives your face a beautiful fresh look!

How Do Apply It?

Oh girl, it is so easy! Because it’s cream makeup, it’s so forgiving and foolproof! You can apply it either with your fingers and blend with a brush or you can apply it with a brush or brushes.

Do you know those paint by number coloring books? Think of your makeup application like that! You will apply your highlight foundation under your eyes, on your nose, on your chin, along your lower cheek/jaw area, and forehead. Apply your contour along your cheekbones, along your jawline, along your hairline, and along the sides of your nose. Apply your blush color on the apples of your cheeks. Apply your illuminator on top of your cheekbones. And then blend baby blend! You will be amazed at how much shape and dimension your face gets!

It really is so important to have the right brushes though! Your application can be a deal breaker with a bad brush. So make sure to use the brushes that are made for this makeup! You can see them HERE!

How Long Does It Last?

Every gal has their own makeup preference. Some like it very natural, some like medium coverage, and some like full coverage. So, depending on what kind of coverage you want and how often you wear makeup, your makeup singles can last anywhere from 2-12 months!

Is It Good for All Skin Types?

Yes! Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, normal skin, or combination skin, this 3D foundation will work for you! If you have oily skin, it’s best to set the makeup with a powder and/or setting spray. I have super oily skin and my makeup will last all day long when I set it with a powder.
