It’s always a little intimidating trying something new…especially a new makeup routine! But, I’m not joking when I say that Seint makeup is so extremely easy to use! BEGINNERS

Since you consider yourself a beginner, that means you probably don’t have a lot of makeup experience, you don’t really like wearing a ton of makeup, you might not have the confidence to do anything beyond mascara and lip gloss, or you don’t want to spend a ton of time on your face. I totally get it! And that’s ok! But the great thing about this makeup is that you don’t have to have a lot of makeup experience, you don’t have to use a ton of product, you don’t have to spend a ton of time to look and feel beautiful!

This is the best makeup for beginners because you can literally finger paint your face and blend with a brush and be done! It takes just a few minutes to highlight and contour your face! It’s the best! This makeup is cream so it’s really fool proof! You can slop it on and blend and it’s super easy.

WHAT YOU NEED TO START

For this Seint makeup tutorial, you want to start with the basics. As you get more practice and learn to love the makeup, you can add on extras over time if you want. The basics to start include:

• Highlight- this is your foundation color and matches your skin (1 for your main highlight and 1 for your lighter highlight for under your eyes)
• Contour- this is a dark brown that will add shadow, dimension, and shade to your face to give you a feminine look
• Lip & Cheek- this is your blush and lip color
• Illuminator- this adds a pretty glow to the tops of your cheekbones (1-3 shades to mix it up!)
• Brush- it is key to have a good brush to apply this makeup! I think the absolute easiest brush to use is the Bronzer + Blush Brush. You apply the makeup with your fingers and blend with the brush.
• Sponge- a damp makeup sponge can help you get a flawless finish! After you’ve applied and blended your makeup with your brush, use the sponge to really blend by dabbing and patting it all over face.

You can either spray the paper towel directly with the cleaner or spray the bristles of the brush with the cleaner and then you wipe and swirl the bristles onto the paper towel. You are trying to get the product off and out of your makeup brush. Keep swirling and wiping until the product is all off. You can spray more of the cleaner if needed. And that’s it!

Houdini Brush Cleanser will sanitize and condition your brush all in one. It’s fast drying so there’s no need to wait for your brushes to dry to start applying your makeup. This solution makes it so easy to have clean brushes!

HOW OFTEN TO CLEAN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSH

There are lots of beauty tools on the market. Sometimes so many that you feel overwhelmed with what to buy and how to use them! That’s great that there are lots of options to choose from, but you don’t really need all of them. But one tool that you do need is a makeup sponge. A beauty blender. A perfector sponge. Whatever they’re called, you need one. But there is definitely a right way and wrong way of using one. So here’s how to use a makeup sponge so you get that flawless look you’re going for!

What is a makeup sponge?

A makeup sponge is a funny looking tear drop sized sponge that is used to help blend your makeup. It’s a great invention that helps blend your makeup to give you a flawless face. But you can’t just use it as is. You have to prep the sponge first.

Get it Wet

So, the first step when using a makeup sponge is to get it wet. Turn on your faucet and hold the sponge under the stream of water. Gently squeeze the makeup sponge in and out until it soaks up enough water that it’s just about double in size. Then you want to wring it out really good. Reeeeallly good. You don’t want to be using a sopping wet sponge on your face because then it will mess up your makeup! Make sure you squeeze out all the excess water. If you need to, you can use a towel to help you get it nice and dry. You still want it damp though.

Dab, Dab, Dab

Next, we dab! No, we’re not talking about the dance move. We’re talking about dabbing that moist makeup sponge on your face. Why would you do that?? Dabbing the sponge all over your face will allow it to remove the excess makeup and give you that flawless look. It helps blend the harsh lines and melt the look all together. Simply use the sponge in rolling motions on your face. Use gentle motions so you don’t take off all of your makeup.

And that’s it! That’s how you properly use a makeup sponge. It’s so easy to use and such an essential tool in your makeup kit.

The Versatility of Maskcara Lip & Cheek Colors

One of my favorite words is versatility! I love when you can use a product, whether that be a beauty product, a hair product, or a wardrobe piece, in more than one way. When you can use one thing to get different looks. When you can mix and match and be smart about having less products but still create different ways of using it! And one of my favorite beauty products that I love are the Maskcara lip & cheeks colors. They are so versatile!

Blush

You can use the Maskcara lip & cheek colors for a pretty blush on your cheeks. You can either use your finger or the B Squared Bronzer and Blush Brush…either way works great! Simply apply the cream lip & cheek color on the apples of your cheeks. The apples of your cheeks are the squishiest part of your cheek. Look at yourself in the mirror and smile. Dab some color on that squishy part. Then take a brush to blend the pinkish hue into your contour to give you a nice feminine touch. That’s it!

Lip

You can also use the Maskcara lip & cheek singles as a lipstick color. There are so, so many colors to choose from! From barely there to wowza! Maskcara currently has …. Lip & Cheek singles available.

To apply the lip color, you can either use your clean finger or the Multi-tasker brush. Simply apply as much color as you want. The cream lip color is very pigmented so a little goes a long way!

There are gloss, semi-gloss, and matte colors. All are beautiful! If you use a matte color, you can always top the look off with a lip gloss to give it some shine. Or you can even create your own color by layering a few shades. The options are endless!!

Eyeshadow

Not only can you use the Maskcara Lip & Cheek colors for your lips and your cheeks, but you can also use it as your eyeshadow! For real. All of the colors have a beautiful pigment, so it looks really nice on your eyelid! You can simply apply it on the entire lid with your finger and be done. Or you can also use some powder eyeshadow to set the makeup or add more dimension. It’s great on its own or layered with other eyeshadow colors.

Concealer

This might sound a bit weird, but it’s true! You can also use some of the lip & cheek colors as concealer. For instance, Frenchie is a great color corrector for under the eye area. Do you have dark circles under your eyes? Then Frenchie might just be what you need to conceal them! Apply Frenchie under your eyes and then you can go over it with your normal highlight/foundation color.

Also, if you have some brown spots, Petal might be great at concealing them. Try it out!

So, think outside the box! Put products in your makeup kit that are versatile so you have less to tote around! I sure love the versatility of Maskcara Lip & Cheek singles!

Yeah, me too! Here’s a barely there makeup look that you can rock near any water so you feel confident and beautiful without wearing your normal everyday makeup look. It’s simple, I promise!

What You Need for a Barely There Makeup Look

The key to getting that poolside makeup look is to go lighter than your everyday makeup look. Think “less is more.” You want to wear just the basics to achieve that no makeup, makeup look. This is what you will need:

• Protection
• Makeup
• Brushes & tools

Protection

When it comes to protection for your skin, you want a great sunscreen. You can wear sunscreen under your barely there makeup look and still look great! 

Here are some tried and true sunscreens that are great for your face and work well with makeup:

Makeup

When it comes to the makeup for a barely there look, you really don’t need a lot of product. Here is what you need for a simple beachy glow:

• Highlight (this will help you get an even skin tone)
• Bella Bronzer
• Illuminator
• Mascara
• Lip Color
• Demi Correctors

Brushes & Tools

Your makeup tools are just as important as the makeup itself! Here are some makeup brushes and tools you need for a barely there makeup look:

• Bronzer + Blush Brush
• Line Brush
• Perfector Sponge

How to Apply a Barely There Makeup Look

The first thing you want to do is protect your face! Start your look off by applying a layer of sunscreen to your beautiful face. 

The next step is covering up your blemishes and evening out your skin tone with highlight. (Not sure what shade will be best for you?? Take the Seint Color Match Quiz, Seint Makeup Survey, or look at the Seint Color Match Guide for help). Take the smaller end on your Bronzer + Blush Brush and apply a light layer of highlight on the areas of your face that need evening out. (Depending on how much makeup you want to wear, you may want to skip this step).

If you want even less makeup than highlight, then you will love Demi Correctors! The Demi Edits are perfect for concealing just the areas on your face that need to be erased. The Wide Awake edit is great for concealing those dark circles and tired eyes. The Erase Edit is great for concealing blemishes and distractions. The Rewind Edit is great for concealing dark spots and freckles. Use the Spot Brush to apply just a small amount on the places you need to conceal.

Once your skin is evened out, take the large end of your brush and apply Bella Bronzer. Apply it on the tops of your cheekbones, on your forehead, on your chin, and down your neck. This will give you a nice sun-kissed glow.

Then take your damp Perfector Sponge or a clean finger and apply some Illuminator on the top of your cheekbones and the bow of your lip to give yourself a beautiful glow. You can even apply some on your eyelids for a little shimmer.

Apply your favorite mascara to those lashes so you look more alive and feminine!

If your brows need some defining or maintaining, then take the Line Brush and brush through your brows. Then you can take Bella Bronzer and fill in and shape your brows.

Top your look off by adding some lip color. Since you want a barely there makeup look, one of these shades are perfect: Summer Love, Boardwalk, Sadie, Carousel

As a bonus, you can take that same lip color and add a little color to your cheeks!

Just take a few minutes to get yourself ready for a low key, barely there makeup look the next time you visit a pool, beach, or lake. It’s all about keeping it simple.
