When it comes to beauty, it’s more than how you look. True beauty is how you feel. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s a great time to reflect on how you look and feel. When you focus on self love, you can show up as your best self. Let’s see how…
Daily Non-Negotiables
When it comes to my daily routine, I have daily non-negotiables that I do to help me feel my best. Sure, I love a to-do list that I can check off my tasks to track my progress for work and personal life. But what’s even more important than a to-do list are those daily non-negotiables in your personal life.
If you want to look and feel your best, start habits that will help you mentally, spiritually, and physically. I really do believe that when you feel good, you do good. And if you’re not feeling great, it’s hard to show up as your best self.
These are some of my daily non-negotiables:
- Affirmations and visualizations (mental)- our mind is so powerful!! It will believe what we tell it to believe. When I practice daily affirmations and visualizations, I am happier. I am more focused and in tune with my purpose and potential.
- Prayer and scripture (spiritual)- I’m religious so it’s important for me to connect daily with God through prayer and scripture reading. It doesn’t have to take me long, but I always check in. I love the thought that when I want to communicate with God, I pray. When He wants to communicate to me, I read my scriptures for guidance from Him.
- Get ready (physical)- It doesn’t matter if I have nowhere to go, I still get ready every day. This includes my skincare routine, hair, makeup, and getting dressed. When I take the time to take care of myself, I feel so much better!
- Exercise (physical)- I commit to moving my body every day! I weightlift to strengthen my muscles and I go on a walk in my neighborhood to exercise my heart and lungs. Find a form of exercise that you enjoy doing so you’ll look forward to it. It could be running, yoga, pilates, swimming, hiking, pickle ball, tennis…just find something you love! The cool thing about being physically active is that it’s not only good for your body but also your mind!
My daily non-negotiables will look different than yours. Take time to reflect on how you want to feel and what kind of person you want to be. Then create your daily non-negotiables around your needs and wants.
Commit to Self Love
When you take time for self care, it helps you feel better about how you look and feel. It boosts your confidence. It helps you show up kinder, happier, and healthier.
So on those days that you don’t feel your best, stop and think what you can do for yourself mentally, spiritually, and physically that can help boost your mood. You deserve to feel comfortable and confident in your skin! When you don’t feel love from others, you can always show yourself some self love.
