10 Life-Changing Habits I Adopted in My 40s for a Happier, Healthier Me

I don’t know what it is, but your 40s seem scary as you approach them. But I can attest that they aren’t scary, they’re amazing! I feel more alive and confident in my 40s than I ever have in my life! Here are 10 life-changing wellness tips in your 40s that you can incorporate in your life to feel amazing too!

Beauty Starts from Within

Since I’m a certified life coach and an aesthetician, I’m going to give you some tips that include both inner and outer beauty. But, no amount of skincare or makeup will help you feel beautiful if you aren’t happy on the inside! So it’s important that you give your mental health just as much (if not more) attention than your outer beauty.

Let’s begin…

10 Wellness tips for your 40s

Now, this is not an all-inclusive list. I’m sure there are many more things that you can be doing in your 40s that will help you look and feel your best. But these are things I’m personally doing and seeing great results! Decide what is best for you. The important thing is that you have an open mind, are willing to change, and stay consistent! Consistency is key!

Here are 10 wellness tips for your 40s that you can try to help you feel amazing:

  • Make sleep a priority
  • Move your body
  • Eat more protein
  • Regulate your hormones with Mixhers
  • Use waterless skincare
  • Go on weekly date nights
  • Do morning meditation
  • Keep a gratitude journal
  • Have daily affirmations
  • Do gua sha facial massage

Let’s break them down…

Make Sleep a Priority

You will feel so much better when you sleep more! 7-8 hours of sleep daily is ideal, but some women need more. Once I started making sleep a priority, I had more energy, I felt better, I was happier! It’s a sacrifice. It might mean less of Netflix. It might mean less work. But it will make a difference in your health. Give it a try…

Move Your Body

Moving your body is more important the older you get! Find something that you enjoy…Pilates, yoga, running, walking, HIIT, weight lifting, swimming, rowing, etc. Find something and stay consistent.

I personally love weight lifting and walking daily. Do you know how good weight lifting is for your muscles and bones??! Strength training is key for your health as you age!!

Eat More Protein

If you weight lift, it’s important to eat more protein to gain more muscle. Find sources of protein that align with your diet. There are a lot of free resources online that share the benefits of protein and how much you should be getting for your weight and age.

Regulate Your Hormones with Mixhers

As we age, our hormones are going all over the place!! A few years ago, my menstrual cycle was nuts. I never knew when it would start and how long it would stay! So I started drinking Mixhers HerTime daily and my cycles are regular again! There is also a Mixhers supplement for menopause.

Use Waterless Skincare

I’ve always had a good skincare routine, but as I approached 40, I was looking for products that helped me age more gracefully. I was seeing wrinkles, dark circles, hyperpigmentation, and dull skin and I didn’t like it! After doing some research, I found waterless beauty and it was a game changer!

Did you know that most skincare products contain 70-90% water?! That means that you’re paying a lot for water, your skincare products are watered down and the active ingredients aren’t working as well, and there are fillers and preservatives in your products to make them shelf stable. No wonder I wasn’t seeing results with my skincare products!

My favorite waterless skincare line doesn’t have any added water, it’s full of bioactive ingredients, and has a powerful ingredient called hydroxytyrosol in it. Learn more about waterless beauty! Hit the button below to take the skin quiz to know what products are best for your skin type.

Go On Weekly Date Nights

If you’re married or have a significant other, go on a weekly date night. It is so good for your relationship! The dates don’t have to be extravagant or cost a lot of money, just set aside time for each other to bond.

Do Morning Meditation

Start your morning with meditation. I know, this might sound a little woo woo, but calming the mind is so good for you! The act of breathing, stretching, visualizing is so good for you mentally. It helps you start your day on the right foot! There are a TON of free guided meditations on YouTube that you can use. This is one of my favorite meditations I like to do each morning:

Keep a Gratitude Journal

An attitude of gratitude is so good for you mentally, emotionally, and physically. Take time each day to write down at least 3 things you are grateful for. When you look for the good, you will see more good!

Have Daily Affirmations

Do you know how powerful the mind is?! It believes what you tell it. If you are constantly telling yourself that you’re ugly, not good enough, not smart enough, not pretty enough…you will feel and act that way! Train your brain to think positively. Choose affirmations that you can repeat to yourself daily that will lift you up and help you rise to your potential.

Start with “I am…” and fill in the blank with a positive thought. When you tell your brain those positive things over and over, you’ll start to believe them and act that way. It’s pretty awesome!

Do Gua Sha Facial Massage

As we age, our skin starts to sag and loosen. Gua sha facial massage will help tighten, sculpt, and tone your skin. Learn more about gua sha!
