We all go through the teens years with hormones raging through our bodies. Some of us squeak by without a blemish and most of us get a pimple here or there, a major breakout, or full blown acne. And it’s no fun. But, you can help combat those blemishes by sticking to a simple skincare for teens that will just take a few minutes a day. With consistency, you’ll have healthy and happy skin through your teen years!
Best Skincare Routine for Teens
As an aesthetician, I’m a believer of less is more. When you have a simple skincare routine, you’ll actually stick to it. I know you’re being told about all the products and techniques that you *need* in your skincare routine. But really, your teen skin just needs some consistent TLC. So, here’s a simple skincare routine that you can follow every day for healthier skin:
- Cleanse- Cleanse once to remove any makeup, sweat, oil, or dirt you have on your face. Then cleanse again to truly clean your face. I prefer using an oil cleanser as my first cleanse and a gel cleanser as my second cleanse.
- Tone- This is a step that a lot of women skip! But it’s important! Cleansing our face will clean our skin, but it removes our skin’s natural oils and inbalances our pH levels. Applying toner will help restore our pH levels and prep our skin for moisturizer.
- Moisturize- Just like your body needs water to stay hydrated, your skin needs moisturizer to stay hydrated too! No matter if your skin is dry, normal, combo, or oily…you need to moisturize daily! Invest in a good face cream that will give your skin great hydration.
If you can commit now to doing this simple skincare routine, your skin will be so much happier! It’s a simple habit that can make a big difference for the rest of your life!
Morning Skincare Routine for Teens
Your morning skincare routine can be super simple. As long as you cleansed, toned, and moisturized your skin before you went to bed, there’s no need to wash your face with cleanser in the morning…unless you have SUPER oily skin or you got hot and sweaty from a workout. Otherwise, you can simply use a clean washcloth and warm water to rinse your face.
You can tone your face to refresh it and then apply sunscreen as your moisturizer. I like to use products that can double as one and sunscreen can double as your moisturizer…it’s a win win!
Night Skincare Routine for Teens
Your nightly skincare routine should be cleansing, toning, and moisturizing…EVERY NIGHT!! Your skin renews itself while you sleep and it can’t do that if you go to bed with a dirty face. And going to bed with a dirty face is a sure fire formula for blemishes!
If you have a breakout, you can also add in spot treating. Invest in an acne treatment that you can dab on your blemish to help it heal quicker.
- Cleanse (twice)
- Tone
- Spot Treat
- Moisturize

Skincare for Oily Skin
If you have oily skin, then using a gel cleanser will be better for your skin. Gel cleansers are more drying for the skin. Also, don’t skip out on the moisturizer! A common misconception is that if your face is oily, it doesn’t need more moisturize. But your skin can actually be overproducing oil because it is thirsty!
