Is it just me or does your skin look and feel blah during the winter months?! It starts looking dry and dull. You start questioning all that is well in the world!! But you can get a healthy winter glow with a fun makeup method. Let me show you!
How to Get Glowy and Healthy Skin in the Winter
Yes, makeup can be magical and can really help liven up your skin. But makeup can only go so far. Before you even get to applying your makeup, you also must have a great skincare routine. At least cleanse, tone, and moisturize daily. But also, exfoliate 1-2 times a week to help slough off the dead skin cells and to promote cell turnover.
And, hydrate!! Nothing will make your skin look dry and dull faster than not giving your skin moisture! That means drink a lot of water AND invest in a great eye cream and face cream. It matters.
Here are some great skincare products for winter that work great on all skin types:
- Oil cleanser
- Toner
- Honey Enzyme Mask (this is a great enzyme exfoliator that can be used 1-2 times a week)
- Eye cream
- Face cream
- Lip Balm

What You Need for a Winter Glow
Now let’s get to the makeup! The key to a winter glow is hydrating skincare and hydrating makeup. Don’t use powders and foundations if you want a light and glowy look. Those products will make your skin look dry and heavy and cakey. Think moisturizing and light! Less is more!
Here’s what you need for a winter glow in your makeup routine:
- Olive Rose Skin Tint (in multiple shades: skin tone, lighter shade, darker shade)
- Cream blush
- Color correctors (YO1, O3, and Bella Bronzer are great ones to start with)
- Cream illuminator
- Shape Brush
- Bright Brush
How to Get a Winter Glow
Once you have what you need, we can get to the fun part! Think of makeup like an art project…you get to create a masterpiece and express your creativity. Here’s a step-by-step of what to do to get this wintry look:
- Apply your main skin tint shade all over your face (avoiding under your eyes)
- Apply just a drop or two of the darkest skin tint shade on each cheekbone and sides of your forehead. Blend into your skin until it looks natural. If you got a bit messy, take your brush and clean it up with your main shade.
- Add a lighter color anywhere you want to brighten.
- Use Bella bronzer under your eyes on any really light areas. This will help even out your skin tone.
- Then take YO1 and O3 and with a small amount color correct any dark areas under your eyes.
- Apply cream blush on the tops of your cheekbones. Blend it into your contour.
- Use your finger to apply illuminator on top of your cheekbone to give you a pretty glisten.
And that’s it!
How Can You Use Olive Rose Skin Tint in Multiple Ways?
The cool thing about skin tint is that it’s very versatile! You can use different shades on your face to create dimension. Here’s what I mean:
- Main shade
- A little darker for concealing
- Dark shade for contour or bronzer
- Light shade for brightening
You’ll want to have a shade that matches your skin tone. This will be your all over color. If you need more coverage and concealing, then choose a shade or two darker than your main shade. Then, you can also get an even darker shade that can be like your contour or bronzer. If you want a dramatic and bold look, go for a darker shade. If you want a natural look, choose a lighter darker shade. You can also get a few shades lighter than your main shade to create brightening on your face. You can apply this in the middle of your forehead, under your eyes, and on your chin. Play around with it and have fun!
Below is a chart that you can reference as a guide to know which shade you can try for adding dimension to your face.
How to Get Shade Matched for Olive Rose Skin Tint
The easiest way to find your shade for skin tint is to take the Shade Match Quiz! Simply answer the questions and you’ll be given the best shade for you. It’s easy peasy and really accurate! And if you feel like the shade recommended to you may a little off, don’t worry! This skin tint is very forgiving! I can get by with wearing shades 5-8! It’s a sheer coverage and very versatile. If you want more coverage, add more product or choose a little darker shade.
