I find it can be really tricky to get a smokey eye look without looking too heavy. It can go wrong really quick! I think the halo eyeshadow technique is a much easier and flattering look that still gives you a smokey and sultry look.
Here’s how to create an easy eye makeup looks for women over 40:
- Start by using a dark eyeshadow. Apply the dark shade in the outer corner of your eye and on the inner corner of your eye with the eyeshadow brush.
- Next, take your finger and apply a shimmer eyeshadow on the middle part of your eyelid. Using your finger will allow there to be more pigment.
- Then take your fluffy eyeshadow brush and blend the colors together so there aren’t any lines.
- To add warmth and to help soften the look, take a warm midtone brown and apply it in and above your crease.
- Finish the look off by applying a light shimmer under your brow and on the inner corner of your eye.
What You Need for a Soft Smokey Eye
A good eyeshadow brush is KEY when creating a good eyeshadow look. You need to invest in a blending brush that will help your eyeshadow look flawless. Along with a good brush is investing in good quality eyeshadows. Not the ones you get at the drugstore that have little pigment and are really dusty. You know the ones…the ones that have a ton of fall off and make your makeup look messy.
