Have you tried the newest type of makeup on the market…skin tint??? I’ll be honest. I was skeptical and cautious going into trying it because I have oily skin and I thought surely, this will make my skin look like a grease ball by the end of the day! But, I was pleasantly surprised! I was so happy with the results that I’ve actually made the switch from cream makeup to skin tint!! Here’s how to get glowy skin without looking oily using skin tint…
What is Skin Tint?
Skin tint is a lightweight makeup in serum form that provides sheer to light coverage. It gives a very natural look. This is the perfect solution for the woman that wants to have a more even skin tone without looking like she’s wearing makeup. If you want more coverage, you can layer the makeup, wear a darker shade, or apply more.
As a bonus with skin tint, they also contain skincare ingredients that help nourish the skin. Some of these ingredients include: hyaluronic acid, mineral spf, hydroxytyrosol, essential oils, vitamin e, vitamin a, and bioactive ingredients.
Skin tint is great for women with any skin type. If you have dry skin, your skin will especially love it. I have oily skin and it even works great for me!
Now, you wouldn’t want to wash your face with skin tint or sleep in it, but the ingredients in it will help reduce the visible signs of aging and improve your skin’s texture.

How to Prep Your Skin for Skin Tint w/o Looking Oily
The key to your skin looking glowy and not oily is skin prep! As an aesthetician, skincare is very important to me and I do all the steps at night. But my morning skincare routine is very simple. And a simple skincare morning routine is key for skin tint for oily skin. Let’s dive into a simple morning routine:
- Rinse your face with warm water and a clean cloth. As long as you don’t have extremely oily skin and haven’t gotten sweaty, you don’t need to fully cleanse your face in the morning. A simple rinse will do.
- Tone- spray a few squirts of toner on your face to balance, refresh, and prep your skin. (learn more about the benefits of toner)
- Moisturize- you can just use a serum like a vitamin C serum to hydrate your skin or if you have dry skin, you can also use a face cream to moisturize. You just don’t want to add too much moisture and too many products onto your skin because that is what will make you look shiny and greasy! And PS…don’s skip your under eyes! How to Apply Skin Tint w/o Looking Oily
Once your skin is prepped properly, you’re good to apply your skin tint! There are a few techniques for applying it:
- You can apply the skin tint directly to your face and rub it into your skin with a brush, sponge, or your hands.
- You can squirt the skin tint onto the back of your hand and you can use a brush or sponge to apply it onto your face.
- You can squirt the skin tint directly onto the brush or sponge and apply it to your face.
There isn’t a right or wrong way…it’s just a matter of preference. Play around with it and see which method you like best. I prefer to either squirt it directly onto my face or the back of my hand and use a brush to blend it into my skin. These are great simple and inexpensive brushes that work well! And don’t forget to clean your makeup brushes weekly with a brush cleanser to prevent breakouts!
You will be tempted to set your makeup with powder so you don’t get shiny. But don’t! The great thing about skin tint is that your skin gets a healthy glow! But it doesn’t make you look greasy and oily. Trust the process. When you put lightweight and good ingredients on your skin, your skin will look healthy!
As soon as you set your makeup with powder, it will enhance your texture and you will lose the glow. The more makeup and layers you put on your face, the more your makeup will crease throughout the day.
