Have you heard of a wardrobe capsule? Probably, right? But have you heard of a 10×10 challenge? A wardrobe capsule is a small collection of intentional clothes. Wardrobe capsules can range in size and seasons and everyone has their own interpretation of them. But a 10×10 challenge is when you pick 10 pieces and wear just those items for 10 days. Could you do it? Does that interest you? Well, if it does, here’s how to pick 10 pieces for 10 days so you can look great and feel confident!

The Guidelines

First off, it’s best to know the guidelines of the challenge. Basically, you can pick 10 pieces total, including your clothing and footwear. And it’s definitely challenging! 

Rules:

  • Pick 10 pieces from your closet.
  • Style those 10 pieces 10 different ways.
  • Wear the same things in variations over a 10-day span.

Exceptions:

  • Workout, lounge ware, or pjs don’t count
  • You can choose to do Monday-Friday two weeks in a row instead of 10 consecutive days. 
  • If you feel like a piece isn’t working for you, you can switch it out for a better option. 
  • You can pick 10 pieces of clothing and not include your footwear in the challenge.  Do what works best for you!
  • Accessories don’t count so use them to your advantage!

How to Pick

So, where do you even start?? How can you possibly go 10 days with wearing the same things over and over? The key is versatility! You want to pick pieces that are versatile! Pieces that can be mixed and matched. Pieces from the same color scheme so you can get by with wearing shoes or sandals that will go with all your pieces. 

Go through your closet and drawers and choose pieces that are staple pieces. Pick tops, bottoms, and shoes that would all look great together. Try to keep your shoes at a minimum so you have more choices for clothes.

Some Tips When Choosing Your 10 Items

  • Go with a color scheme.
  • Check the weather.
  • Consider your activities over the 10 days.
  • Pick a few of your favorite pieces.
  • Keep your footwear limited to allow for more clothing items.

It helps you realize that you don’t need to shop. You waste less time wondering what to wear for the day and it simplifies getting dressed! You won’t regret participating! 

What I Chose for my Summer 10×10 Challenge

When I participated in the challenge, I went to my wardrobe capsule and chose pieces that I could mix and match so I could get lots of different looks. I made sure all of the tops I chose could be worn with all of the bottoms I chose. The shoes I picked could also be worn with every piece. It’s all about versatility!
