Oliveda Elixir or Serum: What’s the Secret to Healthier, Glowing Skin?

If you want happy, healthy, and glowy skin you’ve got to make the investment in time and money! A good skincare routine consists of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. But a GREAT skincare routine also contains serum and elixir. Keep scrolling to learn about Oliveda serum vs elixir so you can get the best results in your skincare routine!

Oliveda Serum vs Elixir

In normal skincare lingo, serums and elixirs are pretty similar. But in Oliveda serum vs elixir terms, they are a little different. Oliveda serums are great for targeting fine lines and wrinkles, pores, and hyperpigmentation. They can be used on their own after cleansing and toning. Elixirs (retinols) work great with serums. They blend better into the skin with serum as their carrier.

What is Serum Used For?

Face serum is a lightweight liquid that absorbs easily into your skin. Serums are made of highly concentrated ingredients meant to improve the appearance of your skin. Some serums specifically target fine lines, pores, or hyperpigmentation.

Here are just some of the benefits of using face serum:

  • Provides extra hydration- Just like your body needs water to stay hydrated, your skin needs moisturizer to stay hydrated too! Moisturizer is meant to help hydrate your skin. But when you add serum into your skincare routine too, it helps lock in that moisture so your skin can achieve its healthiest state.
  • Protects against free radicals- We are bombarded by free radicals daily. These can include smog, dust, smoke, UV rays, pesticides, makeup products, and cleaning products. Serums can provide a barrier to protect against these harmful pollutants.
  • Produces quicker results- Using a serum helps improve your skin’s imperfections more quickly. Serums can help reduce hyperpigmentation, lessen fine lines and wrinkles, reduce dark circles, reduce redness, minimize pore size, and more!
  • Revives dull skin- Does your skin appear dull? Do you want to add that glow back in? Then face serum will help you achieve that!

Benefits of serum

All of Oliveda serums contain the powerful ingredient of Hydroxytyrosol. It is derived from olive trees and  is one of the most powerful antioxidant compounds. It helps reduce inflammation, acne, redness, dark circles, fine lines & wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.

  • F06 CELL ACTIVE SERUM FACE– This serum strengthens, tones, repairs and regenerates stressed and dehydrated skin.
  • F59 CORRECTIVE FACE SERUM– This is lovingly called “Botox in a Bottle” because it helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles just like botox would! It’s truly amazing seeing the results on women of all ages!
  • F81 AHA + HT SERUM FACE– This is what the Oliveda website claims this serum does: it improves blemished skin, removes pimples and reduces scars (such as from acne), has an anti-aging effect, removes fine lines and smoothes even deeper wrinkles, promotes blood circulation and improves the elasticity of the skin, helps the skin to retain moisture better, counteracts pigmentation spots and existing ones are gently lightened, refines pores and improves skin texture, and supports skin regeneration and boosts collagen production. It is also considered a chemical exfoliant.
  • F83 HT + VITAMIN C SERUM FACE– This serum contains vitamin C and the powerful ingredient of hydroxytyrosol. It helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles and prevents the loss of skin firmness.

What is Elixir Used For?

Oliveda has two different kinds of elixirs: eye elixirs and natural retinols. These both come in elixir form and have amazing benefits!

Eye elixirs are great at targeting fine lines and wrinkles, tightening, brightening, and lifting the delicate skin around the eye. Apply one drop of eye elixir under each eye and gently rub it into your skin. Take any excess and rub it onto the top of your eyelid.

F64 Corrective Eye Elixir– The active ingredient complex enhances the natural activity of the cells which gives your eye area a more lifted and radiant look. Also, the fine skin around the eyes is being strengthened and smoothed in a gentle way which makes it perfect for challenging and sensitive skin. The eye area looks rejuvenated, lifted and beautiful.

007 Lifting Up Eye Elixir– This exclusive “lifting up eye” complex promotes the natural activity of the cells and gives the area around the eyes a firmer and more radiant appearance. The “lifting up eye” complex strengthens and smooths the fine skin around the eyes and is particularly suitable for demanding, sensitive, and fine skin.

You can use eye elixir on its own or you can layer it with eye cream. If you choose to layer, you apply one drop of eye elixir under each eye first, let it dry, and then apply eye cream on top of it.

Retinol Benefits

Retinol is a great way to help with the anti-aging process but it can also be known to be strong and irritating if you use the wrong product or too often. A great option for getting the youthful skin that you want but without the harsh and drying reactions is to use natural retinols. Here are a few forms of natural retinols:

  • Bakuchiol is a plant-based alternative to retinol. It comes from a plant grown in India and is extracted from the seeds of this plant. It provides similar results and benefits to retinol but is a gentler option. Any of the products below are derived from olive leaf elixir and contain a powerful ingredient called hydroxytyrosol. These retinols are healing and soothing.
  • Kahai Oil- This is derived from an Amazonian tree called Cacay. The oil is extracted from the nuts of this tree.
  • Fish liver- This is a form of vitamin A that is found in cod liver oil.

Using natural forms of retinol can be gentler on the skin and is a great option if using a full strength retinol makes you nervous. Because they are naturally derived, the higher concentration of retinol is effective yet gentle on the skin. Here are some great options to try:

  • F87 CORRECTIVE KAHAI ELIXIR is great for all skin types and is known for giving the skin luminosity, finer pores, hydration, elasticity, firmness, and anti-pigmentation. Contains 3.8% Kahai Oil and contains the highest amount of retinol out of these products. (This is my personal favorite retinol!)
  • F82 GREEN RETINOL FACE ELIXIR combines Hydroxytyrosol with Green Retinol (Bakuchiol = alternative retinol) and Vitamin A rich Kahai Oil. The Bakuchiol remedies fine lines and reduces the appearance of pores, while the Hydroytyrosol, together with the Kahai Oil, minimizes redness, counteracts pigmentation and protects against oxidative damage. Bakuchiol also stimulates collagen formation, actively counteracting skin aging. It contains 2.5% Bakuchiol + 1% Kahai Oil and is the gentlest form of retinol out of these options. (This option is best for sensitive skin.)
  • F65 CORRECTIVE MIDNIGHT ELIXIR is combines retinol (fish sourced), arbequina and kahai oil with the patented “hyaluron in oil complex” and the regenerating super olive tree antioxidant hydroxytyrosol. This regenerates and tightens the skin overnight, reduces wrinkles and enhances the luminosity of the skin while you sleep. Apply this retinol at night only because it is photosensitive. This contains 2% retinol from fish liver + hyaluron + 2.5% Kahai Oil.
  • 004 DOPE YOUR WRINKLES FACE OIL SERUM combines hemp and retinol, arbequina and kahai oil with the patented “Hyaluronic in Oil Complex”. It regenerates and firms the skin, reduces wrinkles and supports the daily glow of the skin. The unique complex of active ingredients regenerates the skin overnight, firms and smooths wrinkles and fine lines, and gives the skin a natural glow for the next day while you sleep. This contains 2% retinol from fish liver + hyaluron + 2.5% Kahai Oil but also contains hemp.

What’s the Difference Between Serum and Elixir?

In normal skincare lingo, serums and elixirs are pretty similar. But in Oliveda serum vs elixir terms, they are a little different. Oliveda serums are great for targeting fine lines and wrinkles, pores, and hyperpigmentation. They can be used on their own after cleansing and toning. Elixirs (retinols) work great with serums. Elixir is more of an oil consistency and serum is more of a syrupy consistency. When mixed together, they go on so smoothly!

When Should You Use Serum?

Apply serum after you have cleansed and toned your face. You just need about 4-6 drops of serum…a little goes a long way! You can either apply the drops directly onto your face or in the palm of your hands first and then rub it evenly into your skin. It’s really a matter of preference.

When Should You Use Elixir?

Apply elixir after you cleanse and tone your face and apply serum. You only need about 2-3 drops. You can either apply the drops directly onto your face or in the palm of your hands first and then rub it evenly into your skin. It’s really a matter of preference.

It’s best to use retinol at night. And since retinol is an active product, you want to start by using it once a week at first and then building up to 3 times a week as your skin adjusts.

Can Serum and Elixir Be Used Together?

Yes! Actually, this is the preferred way! When you combine serum and elixir (retinol) together, you create an emulsion and it penetrates deeper into your pores. To do this, squirt about 4 drops of serum into the palm of your hand, then add 2-3 drops of elixir into the palm of your hand. Then lightly mix them together by rubbing your hands back and forth and then apply the mixture evenly to your face.

Finish off with your eye products and moisturizer.

Adding serum and elixir (retinol or eye elixir) into your skincare routine will help you see better results. Your problem areas on your face will start to lessen and you will start loving your skin again! Hopefully that answers your questions about Oliveda serum vs elixir.
