Ditch the Popping! How Pimple Patches Help You Break Bad Skin Habits

I get it. Pimples can be pesky! I had acne as a teen and as an adult, I still get breakouts here and there! But as an aesthetician and as your virtual beauty coach, I want to tell you to stop popping those pimples! Instead, learn how you can spot treat them in better ways like using an acne serum, pimple patch, or blemish mask. Let’s dive in to help you get healthier skin!

All of these options will prevent scarring and lead to clearer skin! Here are other tips to get clear skin!

Alternative Ways to Combat Pimples

I know it’s tempting to pop your pimples, but doing so can make matters worse. You can damage your skin, cause scarring, or introduce bacteria into your blemish and cause an infection. Instead of popping your zits, here are 3 alternative ways to get rid of them:

  • Use an acne serum
  • Use pimple patches
  • Use a blemish mask

Combat Pimples with an Acne Serum

This is my personal favorite way to help heal a blemish. As soon as you feel one coming on or you see it, cleanse your face and use a small dab of acne serum on the zit. It’s amazing how fast it will help diminish it! Do it morning and night if you must, but night is better. It may take more than one day but it will help it heal so much faster!

The Acne SOS Face Drop Serum is such a great thing to have in your skincare first aid kit! You never know when a zit will pop up and you’ve always gotta be prepared!

Combat Pimples with a Pimple Patch

Another option to treat those pesky pimples is to use a pimple patch. As soon as you see a blemish reach the surface, wash your face and apply a pimple patch to the zit. I personally prefer to only wear pimple patches at home, in secrecy. But I know it’s trendy for teens to even wear them in public. Do as you wish. But the important thing is that you let it work its magic to help heal your blemish.

There are a lot of pimple patch options out there, but the ones from the Daily Essential Co are my favorite. Get 10% with this discount code: TDEJOELLEN

Combat Pimples with a Blemish Mask

And last but not least, you can use a blemish mask to help clear your skin! After cleansing your face, apply a light layer evenly on your face and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then rinse it off with a clean cloth and warm water. You can follow up with an acne serum or pimple patch.

You can apply a blemish mask once a week as a preventative measure or apply it as necessary.

How to Properly Pop a Pimple

I’m not dumb. Even though I told you not to pop your pimples, I know you still will 😉 My kids do it too! So if you’re going to be stubborn, I might as well teach you how to properly pop a pimple so you can do it the safest way.

  1. Start with clean face & clean hands- ALWAYS start with washing your hands and washing your face. Using dirty fingers and having a dirty face will spread bacteria and irritate or infect the blemish.
  2. Use Tissues on your fingers- Use either toilet paper or tissues on your pointer finger. This will make sure that you don’t spread bacteria and it will give you a little cushion when trying to pop the pimple.
  3. Only try to pop if it has a head- What does the pimple look like? If it has a white or black head, then it’s safe to pop. If it’s red with no head, don’t try to pop it.
  4. Squeeze Down & In- Squeeze down and in to get under the pimple. If it starts bleeding or you see puss, be done. Finish with putting Acne SOS drops or a pimple patch on to help it heal.
