The Best Outfits to Wear When Traveling

Traveling with a family of 6 can get tricky and overwhelming. Add the crazy amount of packing in and it can be a circus! I knew that I needed to pack the basics in my suitcase to save on space and my sanity. I don’t have time to rummage through my suitcase every day to decide what I’m going to wear. But, I want to look nice too. So I have packed my favorite things to mix and match that make me look and feel good as I travel the world. Here are the best outfits to wear when traveling. I want to hear about your favorites too!

What to Pack

3-6 dresses

2 skirts

1 pair of jeans

1 pair of black leggings

1 pair of culottes

5 short sleeve shirts

1 chambray shirt

1 pair of black leather sandals

1 pair of shoes

2 scarves

1 leather jacket

1 rain jacket

Why These?

This packing list has enabled me to mix and match my wardrobe to get different looks and accommodate the weather. These are the best outfits to wear when traveling. On cooler days, I throw on my jeans and a shirt. On warmer days, which is the norm for our travel days, I throw on a dress. Dresses are so easy to toss on, add some jewelry or a scarf, and you look put together! If I could live in dresses every day, I would!! My absolutely favorite dresses are from 3 Brunettes Boutique. They’re lightweight, don’t wrinkle much, and are easy breezy & pretty. You know I love simple and wearing dresses doesn’t get much simpler than that!

If I want to mix things up a bit, then I wear a maxi skirt or my culottes with a shirt for a different look. I made sure that all of my pieces (tops & bottoms) can go with each other. I can mix my bottoms and tops easily.

Style Tips

Make sure you have color scheme. You want to choose clothing items that can all go with each other. Black, white, and gray are great colors to have as a base and then mix in some patterns with your shirts. Most of my items have black or white in them so I can wear things many different ways. If you don’t want to pack a lot of clothing, then focus on packing some accessories to change up your outfit. I have a jewelry pouch of my favorite pieces to add some pizazz to my look. Or throw a scarf around your neck for a chic look.

You don’t want to neglect your footwear. Pack shoes that are stylish and comfortable. It’s the worst when you see someone dressed nicely and then look at their feet to see grungy ol’ sneakers. You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. There are so many options out there that are cute and comfy. These are my faves! They go with everything, they’re comfortable, and they’re cute. Win win win. When I don’t want to wear tennis shoes but look a little nicer, I love wearing these Salt Water leather sandals. They are so comfortable and are so durable. They have been all over the world with me and they still look great…and I haven’t gotten any blisters!

Packing a minimalist traveling wardrobe has paid off! I don’t have to stress about what to wear, I’m comfortable, and stylish. You can have your cake and eat it too =) What are some of your favorite things to pack??
