As a licensed esthetician, I test a lot of skincare. Some products are fun to try once. Others quietly earn a permanent spot on my bathroom counter because they simply work for my skin.

Today I’m sharing my “empty bottle review”…the Oliveda products I’ve completely used up, repurchased, and genuinely miss the moment they run out. This isn’t a first impressions review. These are the products I’ve used day after day, through every season, while traveling across Europe, and during everyday life. I’ll tell you which ones became staples, who I think they’re best for, and whether I believe they’re truly worth the investment.

Why an Empty Bottle Review Matters

We live in a world of influencers. People getting paid for creating content. And unfortunately, not everyone that you watch online is being honest. They set up their camera, show the product, and get paid for advertising. But do they actually use and love the product? Do they actually see good results? Would they actually buy the product with their own money??? If I was a betting woman, I would bet most aren’t telling the whole truth. And that’s sad.

Anyone can rave about a product after using it twice. But finishing an entire bottle…and buying it again…is the real test.

I hope you’ve followed me on social media, YouTube, and my blog long enough to know that when I share a product, I really do use it and love it. I really would spend my own money on it. I really would recommend it to you because I stand behind it. I am a woman of my word. I have integrity. And I pass up countless collaboration opportunities because I know I won’t like the product and I don’t want to be a commercial.

My goal isn’t to get you to waste your money. My goal is to help you feel confident in your skin.

So an empty bottle review is the most honest review someone can give you. That means they used the product up. That means they went back to it over and over because it was gooood.

My Criteria as a Licensed Esthetician

There are so many skincare products on the market! There are a ton of good products. But I’m at the point in my life where I don’t just want good products. I want great products that will give me great results. I want products that are good for me and that will help me age gracefully. Here are some things I consider before I use on myself and that I recommend to you…

• Ingredients: I don’t want to put garbage ingredients on my skin. I want the highest quality and clean ingredients that are going to be nourishing and healthy for me. No more preservatives, fillers, and toxic ingredients.
• Performance: If I’m going to spend money on something, I want it to work well! I want to see results! I don’t want to just go through the motions…I want to actually see the product doing something for me.
• Ease of use: I’m a busy woman, as I’m sure you are too! So I want my skincare products to be easy to use and not take up a ton of time.
• How skin feels: I want my skin to feel gooood! So if I put something on my skin and it doesn’t feel that way…it doesn’t pass the test.
• Value: I’m all for saving money. But I also believe in quality over quantity. I would rather pay more for something that actually gives me results than pay little for something that doesn’t do much for me.
• Whether I actually look forward to using it: If I find myself excited to use a product, that is always a good sign!!

My “Would Buy Again” Products

I made the switch to waterless skincare products almost 3 years ago and I’ve never looked back! My skin feels so healthy and looks so glowy in my 40s. These products are so hydrating and nourishing for any skin type, but especially for mature skin. I use a full waterless skincare routine for my morning and night routine, but these are the best Oliveda products that I seem to go through the most and purchase over and over…

→ Corrective Facial Tonic: I think I go through this product the most because I use it morning and night. It’s a great toner that helps restore your skin’s natural pH level, refreshes your skin, hydrates your skin, and preps your skin for all the other skincare products.

→ HT + Vitamin C Serum: I ran out of this and it was out of stock for a little while and I didn’t know what to do with myself!! It’s my very favorite morning serum! It brightens the skin, protects the skin from environmental factors, hydrates the skin, and gives it a rosy glow. It’s also great for prepping your skin for makeup. I don’t go a day without this!

→ Corrective Face Cream: I finish my morning routine with this face cream. I love it because it has tapioca starch in it so it absorbs excess oil, helping to minimize greasy or oily skin. It also has natural sun protection in it so it pairs great with my vitamin c serum to protect my skin.

→ Corrective Cleansing Balm: This is the yummiest cleansing product ever!! It feels so silk smooth on the skin. This is the product that I look forward to using every night!! It works great at removing my makeup as my first cleanse. It’s so so good!

→ Corrective Eye Serum: This eye serum is a game changer! This is what first got me hooked on waterless beauty. I was looking for something that would help me tired looking under eyes and this serum and the eye cream duo are amazing!! I like to use it at night and then finish with the eye cream.

→Corrective Eye Cream: My favorite eye cream I’ve ever used!! I use it morning and night and my under eyes feel and look so hydrated and happy!

→ Hyaluronic Serum: This is my favorite night serum. It hydrates like no other! And it also plumps the skin and gives it such a great healthy glow!

Which Products Surprised Me the Most?

Honestly, I was so incredibly surprised by the Corrective Cleansing Balm! I’ve been an oil cleanser lover for many years and I really like the Arbequinna Cleansing Oil. But when I tried the cleansing balm…wow! I was blown away! It felt so luxurious. I felt like I was in a spa! I’m not exaggerating when I say I truly look forward to using this product every night!

My Favorite Routine Right Now

Even though I’m an esthetician, I still like to keep my skincare routine simple. I believe in quality over quantity. Using higher quality products with better ingredients has allowed me to simplify my skincare routine. Here’s my current routine I’m loving:

My Morning Routine

Dry skin enhances fine lines and wrinkles. Hydrated skin helps you look glowy and youthful. My personal favorite face cream is the F42 Corrective Face Cream because it contains natural sun protection from UVA and UVB rays. It also contains tapioca starch so it helps absorb excess oil. That means this face cream won’t leave you looking greasy and oily!

My Night Routine

My night routine is a bit more involved because I like to slather on the goodness before I sleep. Because your skin renews itself while you sleep and I want it to work its magic while I get my beauty rest! Here’s what I use at night:

• Cleanse: I do a first cleanse with the Corrective Cleansing Balm and a second cleanse with the LA Dope Gel Cleanser. My skin always feels so squeaky clean afterwards!
• Tone: I use the Corrective Facial Tonic to restore, refresh, and prep my skin.
• Serum + Retinol: I always use the Hyaluronic Serum every night but I will rotate every other day also adding in the Kahai Elixir (natural retinol). Learn more about the benefits of retinol!
• Eyes: I layer the Corrective Eye Serum and the Corrective Eye Cream to nourish, hydrate, brighten, and tighten my under eye area.
• Moisturize: I finish off with using the Corrective Bioactive Face Balm to lock in all the goodness! I go to bed like a glazed donut!! My skin looks and feels so so good!

Frequently Asked Questions

• How long does an Oliveda bottle usually last? One thing I appreciate about these products is that a little goes a long way. Because the formulas are concentrated, I typically find they last longer than many traditional skincare products. How long each bottle lasts depends on how often you use it and how much you apply…but they usually last 4-6 months!

And as we get older, our skin has different needs than it did in our twenties. Heavy foundations settle into fine lines, powders can look dry, and dehydrated skin can make makeup wear unevenly. Makeup artists consistently recommend lightweight, hydrating formulas and minimal layering for mature skin in hot weather.

After traveling to more than 40 countries, I’ve learned that packing the right beauty products makes all the difference. My goal isn’t to wear more makeup on vacation…it’s to wear smarter makeup that feels lightweight, looks fresh, and lets my skin breathe. These are the travel beauty products for hot weather that I never leave home without.

Why Hot Weather Changes Your Beauty Routine

Heat, humidity, sun exposure, and long travel days all affect how your skincare and makeup perform.

Instead of packing your full beauty routine, simplify it. Focus on products that hydrate your skin, provide lightweight coverage, and can multitask. Less product often means longer wear, especially on mature skin. My favorite motto in life is less is more!

Start with Great Skin Prep

Beautiful vacation makeup always begins with skincare. Your skincare is key for everything else you put on your face afterwards. Before I even think about makeup, I make sure my skin is:

• Clean
• Hydrated
• Protected

When your skin is well hydrated, you’ll typically need less makeup because your complexion already looks healthier and more radiant. This is the simple 3-step skincare routine that I swear by:

• Cream blush
• Cream contour
• Concealer
• Brow gel
• Brow pen
• Mascara
• Lip balm

Lightweight complexion products tend to look fresher throughout a hot day than heavy layers of foundation. And bonus…my makeup is skincare infused so not only does it enhance my beauty but it nourishes it all day!

Sunscreen Is the Most Important Beauty Product You Pack

If there’s one product I never compromise on, it’s sunscreen or sun protection.

Not only does sunscreen help protect your skin from UV damage, but it also helps preserve all the progress you’ve made with your skincare routine.

I recommend choosing a sunscreen that layers beautifully under makeup so you’re more likely to wear it every day. I personally love to use skincare products that have natural sun protection so it multitasks for me! If you choose to wear sunscreen, you can forgo face cream/moisturizer. Sunscreen can double as your moisturizer. Remember…less is more! Or you can also opt for applying your sunscreen over your makeup.

My Hot Weather Makeup Tips

When temperatures climb, I simplify everything. Less is more! A few things that help my makeup last longer:

• Apply thin layers instead of heavy coverage.
• Use cream products instead of thick powders whenever possible.
• Spot conceal instead of covering your entire face.
• Finish with setting spray if needed.
• Blot excess oil instead of continually adding powder.
• Use high quality makeup brushes to help you apply less and evenly. See my favorite makeup brushes!

The goal is fresh, healthy-looking skin…not a full face that feels heavy by lunchtime.

Travel Skincare Essentials I Never Leave Home Without

These are the skincare products that always make it into my suitcase:

• Gentle cleanser
• Hydrating toner
• Vitamin C serum
• Hydrating face cream with sun protection
• Eye cream
• Lip balm

Travel can leave skin dehydrated, especially after flights, long days outdoors, and changing climates. Keeping your routine simple helps your skin stay balanced.

And the good news is that it doesn’t have to be complicated.

As a licensed esthetician, I’ve found that a basic nightly skincare routine is one of the simplest ways to care for your skin, especially as we get older. While we sleep, our skin shifts into repair mode, making nighttime the perfect opportunity to cleanse away the day’s makeup, sunscreen, and impurities while replenishing moisture and nourishing your skin with ingredients that support a healthy-looking complexion. Focus on quality over quantity. Your nighttime routine should be simple and consistent, focusing on cleansing, targeted treatments, and moisturizing to support the skin barrier while you sleep.

Whether you’re brand new to skincare or looking to simplify your routine, these are the basic steps I recommend for healthy, radiant skin that ages gracefully.

Basic Nightly Skincare Routine

Did you know that your skin renews itself faster while you sleep? So if you go to bed with a dirty face, then your skin can’t work its magic! Even if you don’t wear makeup, you still need to wash your face EVERY night! Your skin collects oil, sweat, dirt, dust, grime, and pollutants throughout the day. Regardless of whether you wear makeup or not, your skin is still by the end of the day! It’s crucial that you do at least a simple skincare routine nightly if you want healthy skin.

When it comes to skincare, there are a lot of products and techniques out there! But if you want to keep things simple, then stick to these steps:

• Cleanse (first and second cleanse)
• Tone
• Moisturize

That’s it! When you keep things simple, you’re more likely to do it! Following those simple steps will help you have healthy and happy skin.

If you have more time, then you can add in more products like exfoliator, serum, retinol, mask, and eye products. Follow these steps to get glass skin!

Cleanse

After a full day of makeup-wearing, the first thing you want to do in your nightly skincare routine is remove your makeup or the other buildup! You want a fresh face to clean. Just like a hair stylist will tell you that it’s important to wash your hair twice each time you wash your hair, as an aesthetician I’m telling you that you need to double cleanse your face. The first cleanse will remove the makeup and buildup and the second cleanse will really clean your face.

For your first cleanse, use an oil cleanser to wash your face. An oil cleanser will help remove your makeup and clean your pores. Rub in circular motions making sure to clean the nooks and crannies of your face. Be gentle but thorough. Remove the cleanser and your product buildup with a clean microfiber cloth (use a new one each day!).

Next, cleanse your face again! You can use the same oil cleanser or you can use a gel cleanser. Gently rub the cleanser into your face and rinse with the microfiber cloth.

Tone

This step is often neglected in the skin care routine, but it shouldn’t be! Toning helps restore your skin’s natural pH level, reduces redness, refreshes, and acts as a second cleansing process.

There are 3 ways you can apply toner:

• Spritz your face directly with toner and let it air dry.
• Take a cotton pad and spray it a few times with your toner. Then gently rub your face with the cotton pad, making sure to get your whole face.
• Spray your hands with toner and pat it onto your face.

Moisturize

This step is so refreshing! Take a moisturizer and apply it to your face. Dab some of the product all over your face and rub it in thoroughly. Make sure to be gentle under your eyes because this skin is very sensitive.

Basic Morning Skincare Routine

Here’s my tried and true 3-step skincare routine I use before I apply my Olive Rose makeup. It’s simple. It’s quick. It’s easy. It’s effective. And it will leave your skin feeling and looking hydrated and bouncy for your cream makeup.

• Hydrate

When I travel, I take a lot of pictures and videos to document all the memories. And I want to look good in that footage when I look back on it! So it’s crucial that I bring my favorite skincare and makeup products so I can look and feel my best, no matter where I am!

When you’re visiting somewhere new, it can be overwhelming. Having your favorite daily essentials keeps you calm and confident and feeling like yourself.

Daily Toiletry Essentials

There are just some essentials that you should not go without! Thankfully, if you happen to forget something, these simple essentials can be found most places around the world…maybe not the exact same as what you’re used to but you’ll definitely have your needs met. And learn to adapt! But here’s a checklist you can use to help you pack what you need!

Skincare Essentials I Never Travel Without

As a licensed esthetician, I can’t NOT bring my favorite skincare products. I’ve done enough traveling and have sacrificed bringing my favorites in the past and my skin always suffers. But not anymore! As a woman over 40, my skincare is the most important thing I pack.

But instead of packing all my full size bottles, taking up too much space and weight, I put my favorites in smaller travel size containers. Here are my skincare travel essentials:

• Gua Sha stone (this is so great for getting rid of puffiness when you travel!)

My Travel Makeup Essentials

There’s nothing worse than having some of your favorite makeup products break or spill in your luggage! It makes a mess and then you also can’t use it. I prefer traveling with cream makeup because it’s TSA approved, won’t spill, and you can bring it with you in your carry-on.

Along with packing clothing, skincare, and makeup, there are some other essentials that you don’t want to forget when you’re traveling abroad! There’s nothing worse being in a foreign country and not having what you need when you need it! Here’s a list of things that are important to pack:

First Aid:

• Bandaids
• Neosporin
• Moleskin
• Bugspray
• Bug bite ointment
• Ace bandage

• Rubber gloves

Medicine:

• Anti-diarrea medicine
• Pepto Bismol
• Charcoal pills (this is so so good for upset tummies when you’re eating new foods)
• Probiotics (this is also a life saver! I take this daily when I travel to help me digest things better and have a happy gut)
• Zofran (I always have this on hand! I get a prescription from my doctor before we travel anywhere)
• Antibiotics (I always have this on hand! I get a prescription from my doctor before we travel anywhere. I’ve been traveling when I needed it and had to go to the ER to get treatment. Always be prepared!)
• Tylenol
• Advil
• NyQuil and DayQuil pills
• Cough drops
• Motion sickness medicine (Bonine, Dramamine, or Meclizine)

Laundry:

• Tide Pen
• Tide Wipes
• Laundry detergent sheets (if you’re staying at an Airbnb with a washer, these are so useful!)

Some of these may seem overkill, but trust me. I packed all of these things and ended up using quite a few of them! And there have been times when I wish I had something and I didn’t.

Travel Bags:

The bags you pack matter!! You don’t want to be lugging suitcases through airports and streets that have weak wheels and cheap plastic. You want something reliable, comfortable, that holds a ton! Here are the bags I always travel with:

Toiletries That Save Space

The key to being able to pack all your favorite toiletries is to buy travel size containers or travel size products. Purchasing small containers (silicon, plastic, or glass) can help you pack more but not pack the bulk. Squeeze, pour, or dropper your favorite liquids, creams, serums, gels, lotions, oils, and shampoos into smaller jars so you don’t have to choose between your favorites! You don’t have to sacrifice for space.

I especially love hanging toiletry bags because they keep everything organized and make it easy to access products in small hotel bathrooms. Pros and Cons of Needles in Skincare

There’s no shame for anyone who chooses to do Botox. It’s best to know the pros and cons of something before you jump in. Here are a few that you can be aware of…

Needle Pros

Injection can relaxe the facial muscles and can do the following:

• Reduce fine lines
• Reduce crow’s feet
• Reduce frown lines
• Reduce eleven lines between the eyes
• Reduce forehead lines

Needle Cons

Although injections can reduce wrinkles, there are some negative impacts of needles in skincare. According to Good RX Health, injections can cause:

• Injection site reactions
• Headaches
• Forehead side effects and droopy eyelids
• Dry skin
• Spreading of botox toxin
• Difficulty swallowing or breathing
• Eye and vision problems
• Heart problems
• Nerve of muscle problems

What Can Skincare Realistically Do?

One thing I always tell women is this:

A skincare product should never promise miracles.

No serum can completely erase wrinkles overnight or perform like a medical treatment. But the right routine can absolutely help your skin look healthier, smoother, brighter, and more hydrated over time.

My Favorite Needle-Free Skincare Tools

If you decide to pass on Botox, there are some other Botox alternatives that work really well! These will all help you age more gracefully in a natural way:

• Gua Sha– This is an ancient and traditional Chinese skin care practice that helps circulate blood flow, detoxify through lymphatic drainage, reduce puffiness and fine lines, and sculpts the face. When done regularly, you will notice improvements in your skin.
• Red Light Therapy– This is a treatment that can be done at a dermatologist office or at home that uses red or LED light therapy to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of pigmentation and redness, and promote healthier, younger-looking skin.
• Eye Cream– Our eyes and under eyes show signs of aging the fastest. Investing in a good eye cream or eye elixir is key to helping you reduce fine lines and wrinkles and diminish dark circles.
• AHA+HT Serum Face– Exfoliating regularly with an AHA can help improve the appearance of the skin by removing fine lines and smoothing even deeper wrinkles, promoting blood circulation and improving the elasticity of the skin, helping the skin to retain moisture better, and supporting skin regeneration and boosts collagen production.
• Frownies or Seald patches– These are facial patches that you can wear at night to help smooth wrinkles.
• F59 Corrective Face Serum– This is a serum that can be used in your skincare routine to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, especially in the forehead area.

Do Needle-Less Serums Really Work?

Needle-less serums are big buzz terms lately! Some skincare brands are creating serums that they claim give similar results to injections without the needles and toxic ingredients. Is it too good to be true?? Here’s my opinion: I don’t think any skincare serum out there will give the completely same results as getting an injection. But I do believe that there are products out there that can help minimize fine lines and wrinkles and soften the appearance of aging. If aging naturally without needles is your mission, then Botox in a Bottle may be a great option for you!

I have personally been using the F59 Corrective Serum for 2 months and does it look like I have had injections? No. But I have noticed that my forehead wrinkles and the wrinkles around my eyes are softening. I hope that with continued consistent use, along with Gua Sha, red light therapy, and eye cream that my skin will look happy, healthy, glowy, and less wrinkly

When I’m shopping for skincare, I look for antioxidant-rich formulas and ingredients that help my skin look hydrated, smooth, and radiant.

Needle-less Serum Options

Two needle-less serum options that work really well are Olive Tree People’s F59 Corrective Serum and 002 Finer Pore Dope Face Elixir. Both of these products contain hydroxytyrosol and para cress…the only difference is 002 has added hemp seed extract in it for sensitive skin. Hydroxytyrosol is a potent ingredient that is derived from olive trees and is one of the most powerful antioxidant compounds. It helps reduce inflammation, acne, redness, dark circles, fine lines & wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. Para cress is a South American plant that works as a needle alternative by having positive effects on the collagen which lifts the skin.

If I could recommend one serum for women who want healthier-looking skin, this would be it. The F59 Serum not only helps soften wrinkles, but it also firms your skin, helps brighten, and hydrate. Basically, it helps you age gracefully! And isn’t that what we all want?!

What’s Different About F59 Corrective Face Serum?

Most serum over promise and under deliver. So what makes F59 Corrective Face Serum different?? Let me break it down simply for you. Most skincare products contain 70%-90% water. This means a few things:

• You’re paying a lot of money for water.
• The active ingredients are literally watered down so the product isn’t as effective.
• Because there is so much water in the product, preservatives and fillers must be added to make them shelf stable to avoid bacteria from growing.

The truth is, Oliveda isn’t for everyone…but for the right person, it can be a great investment. In this guide, I’ll walk you through what makes the brand different, who I think benefits most, what kind of results you can realistically expect, and the products I’d recommend starting with if you’re new to waterless skincare. Professional laser hair removal works on the same basic principle as IPL…it uses light to target the pigment in your hair follicles…but the technology is much more focused. If your goal is the fastest possible results, professional laser may be the better choice. But if you’re looking for a more affordable, convenient option you can use at home, IPL can be a great investment.

That said, “safe” doesn’t mean risk-free. Always wear any recommended eye protection, avoid treating tattoos or irritated skin, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. If you have a skin condition or concerns about whether IPL is right for you, it’s always a good idea to talk with your dermatologist first.

One thing that’s important to know is that neither option guarantees you’ll never see another hair again. Hormonal changes, genetics, and aging can all influence future hair growth, so occasional touch-ups are normal.

When it comes to cost, this is where the difference becomes pretty significant.

I’ve personally experienced both. I had professional laser hair removal years ago and loved the results, but keeping up with maintenance appointments became expensive and inconvenient. My Honest Oliveda Review

As a licensed esthetician, I’ve always taken great care of my skin. I haven’t skipped a night of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing my face before bed in over 20 years. I exfoliated regularly. How to Apply Sunscreen Under Your Makeup

After you have cleansed your face for the day, apply a small amount of sunscreen to your face. You don’t need a lot to get coverage. Before you apply your makeup, let your sunscreen absorb into your skin for 5-10 minutes. This will help your makeup apply and stay better.

But here’s the thing…you do not need both moisturizer AND sunscreen. Let your sunscreen be your moisturizer. Applying too many products on your skin before you apply your makeup will cause your makeup to slide and not apply and stay well.

How to Apply Sunscreen Over Foundation

It can be easy to get overwhelmed with all the noise we hear about complicated 12-step skincare routines. Who has time for that?? I’m a firm believer in less is more. And that’s especially true when you have better products with better ingredients. As a licensed esthetician and certified makeup artist, I prefer using waterless skincare products. Because waterless skincare products are more potent and powerful, you don’t need 12-steps to see results.

Here’s my tried and true 3-step skincare routine I use before I apply my makeup. It’s simple. It’s quick. It’s easy. It’s effective. And it will leave your skin feeling and looking hydrated and bouncy for your cream makeup.

• Prep
• Protect
• Hydrate

Let’s breakdown what products to use for these 3 steps…

• Prep– Use a toner to restore your skin’s pH and prep your skin for the other skincare products you will be applying. The F11 Facial Toner or the F67 Corrective Facial Tonic (my personal fave) are great ones to use.
• Protect– The F83 HT + Vitamin C Serum is a fantastic serum to use in the morning! It will help hydrate, brighten, and protect your skin.
• Hydrate– As we age, our skin is producing less oil and appears drier. It’s so important to invest in a good moisturizer/face cream that will hydrate our skin! Dry skin enhances fine lines and wrinkles. Hydrated skin helps you look glowy and youthful. My personal favorite face cream is the F42 Corrective Face Cream because it contains natural sun protection from UVA and UVB rays. It also contains tapioca starch so it helps absorb excess oil. That means this face cream won’t leave you looking greasy and oily! Or, choose one of the sunscreens above as your moisturizer for the hydration step.

Learning how to apply and reapply sunscreen with makeup is one of the best things you can do for your skin…especially after 40. Daily sun protection doesn’t just help reduce your risk of sun damage…it also plays a huge role in preventing premature aging, dark spots, and loss of collagen over time. The key is finding products and application methods that fit seamlessly into your routine so protecting your skin feels simple instead of stressful. Whether you prefer a tinted sunscreen, SPF setting spray, mineral powder, or sunscreen stick, consistency is what matters most. Your future skin will thank you for making sunscreen a non-negotiable part of your beauty routine.
