As a minimalist and an avid traveler, I’ve come to realize that it is crucial to be strategic in your wardrobe. I can’t afford the space to collect unnecessary clothing pieces that will clutter my closet or suitcase. I have to be intentional with what I choose to buy and wear. I like to refer to these pieces as closet workhorses. Pieces that work hard for me, give me the most bang for my buck, and offer endless options of wear. The black dress is a closet workhorse because it works hard for you!! You can wear it all year round, you can dress it up or dress it down, it’s comfortable and cute, and such a great staple piece for any closet!

When choosing staple pieces for your closet, they must be versatile. And the black dress (LBD) is totally versatile! You can dress it up with heels or dress it down with sneakers. You can wear it on its own or tie a sweater around your waist. You can even layer a shirt over it so it looks more like a skirt. You can wear it with tights or leggings. You can layer it with jackets or sweaters. You can play around with it by adding fun accessories like scarves, necklaces, earrings, rings, or bracelets. The options are endless! You want clothing that will work hard for you and the LBD can be worn over and over in lots of different ways!

When looking for a good LBD, keep your body shape in mind. If you are slender, then go for a more fitted black dress. If you have curvy hips, go for an a-line black dress. A black house dress will fit any body type! Look for comfy, simple, and good quality. You want your dress to last for you. You want it to flatter your figure. You want to be comfortable and confident when wearing it. So pick a good one! This house dress is my personal fave.
