We all have imperfections and blemishes that we want to conceal, right?! From melasma to hyperpigmentation to dark circles to acne to varicose veins. No face is flawless. The key to a flawless makeup application is learning how to color correct. Here’s how to brighten up your skin this year with a blue color corrector so you look your best!
FAQs
- What does a blue color corrector do? Looking at the color wheel, orange is the opposite of blue. So, if you have spots on your face that appear muddy or orange, then blue will help cancel out the color and conceal it better.
- Where do you put blue color corrector? If you have a fair to medium skin tone and you notice hyperpigmentation or an orangey complexion, then you can use a blue color corrector to even out your skin tone. If you have dark circles and have dark skin, usually an orange color corrector works for concealing, but you can try a blue color corrector to see how it looks on your skin type.
- How do you apply a blue color corrector? For small spots, use the Spot Brush and Demi B1 to place a small amount of product on the area you want to conceal. Focus on the spot only and don’t go beyond that or you will notice texture.
What Concealer is Best for You?
When it comes to color correcting and concealing, it’s best to know what color you’re trying to conceal.
Spend a little time in front of the mirror seeing what colors on your face are distracting. Do you have dark circles? Do you have broken capillaries? Do you have pimples? Do you have hyperpigmentation? Do you have melasma? Study your face to see what you want to filter and determine what shades those distractions are.
Our blemishes may not be so easy to determine what colors they are. So here is a little guide to help you figure out what Demi Corrector colors you’ll need:
- Dark Circles: these are usually blue or green and need an orange or red shade to help filter.
- Redness on your face: these are usually more violet or blue and need an orange color to help filter.
- Hyperpigmentation: these appear kind of muddy on your face and need an orange or red to help filter.
Once you know what color you’re trying to conceal, it’s time to study the color wheel! Think back to your days in elementary school or middle school when you did an art project. We learned about the color wheel and how opposite colors are complementary. When you want to conceal a distraction on your face, you want to use the opposite color on the color wheel.
