What Is Cakey Foundation?

Cakey foundation is when your makeup foundation feels or looks heavy and layered. You may notice texture or creasing. Cakey makeup doesn’t look natural but is quite noticeable that you are wearing makeup. If you want a natural appearance, then it’s best to avoid a cakey makeup look!

What Causes Cakey Foundation?

Cakey foundation is usually caused by either applying too much makeup, not blending your makeup, or wearing the wrong makeup colors. Fortunately, these problems are so easy to fix! So if you are experiencing a heavy makeup look or feel, then let’s break it down to see how you can look your best!

How Can You Fix Cakey Foundation?

If you have cakey foundation, you can fix it by doing one or more of these three things:

  • Apply less product
  • Wear makeup colors that better suit your skin coloring
  • Blend your makeup better

Apply Less Product

Most women are wearing too much makeup! Makeup isn’t meant to cover our beauty up but to enhance what we have! There are so many great makeup products on the market and as women, we want to try them all! But that doesn’t mean we need to wear it all or apply as much.

Most makeup lines have foundation, concealer, contour, blush, bronzer, highlighter. And they’re all so fun and pretty! But once you have applied all the products, you end up with several layers of makeup on your face! And those layers will give you a cakey makeup appearance.

One of my very favorite makeup brands, Seint, is ideal for applying less makeup! You can have fun with all the different products, but you apply it in just one layer. You see, Seint makeup is a iiid foundation. iiid foundation is basically different shades of foundation that you apply on different parts of your face. It’s applied in a paint-by-number pattern in one layer and then blended out beautifully. You get the coverage you need but without the heavy and cakey look and feel. It’s awesome!!

Wear Makeup Colors that Better Suit Your Skin Coloring

Wearing too much makeup and wearing the wrong colors go hand in hand. If you’re wearing the wrong colors, then sometimes you apply more makeup to try to get better coverage. But when you have the right makeup colors, you won’t need to apply as much product.

When you’re wearing the wrong makeup shades, it will appear too orange or too white, making it look cakey and textured.
